Arsenal Manager Mikel Arteta Could Be Sacked At The End Of The Season — Paul Merson

Should Arsenal not starts strongly in the upcoming season, Paul Merson claims that Crystal Palace manager Patrick Vieira might well replace Mikel Arteta as Arsenal manager.

Since taking over at Selhurst Park, Patrick Vieira has been a surprising success story, taking a weak squad and making them exceedingly difficult to beat, proving to be a thorn in the side of many top 10 sides this season.

While the Frenchman's knowledge of the division cannot be questioned, his previous coaching experience gave little reason to believe he would be such a success when taking over from Roy Hodgson last summer, but he did an incredible job, despite the fact that many had them tipped for relegation after losing a number of key players for nothing last summer, and with one of their stars, Eberechi Eze, ruled out for much of the first half of the season.

Arsenal legend Paul Merson is so satisfied with his performance this season that he believes he might take over at Arsenal in the near future, suggesting that depending on the two clubs' outcomes, he could get the chance early in the new campaign.

"Could he be Arsenal's future manager?" Merson spoke with SportsKeeda about it. "For me, timing is everything. When Sir Alex Ferguson was poised to step down in the early 2000s, a few names were rumored to be in the race to succeed him, but none of those connections materialized."

"Arsenal have offered Mikel Arteta a new contract, but if he has a spate of poor results in the Premier League in 2022-23, and Vieira has a string of wins, Vieira might possibly be the next Gunners manager!"

As bad as Arsenal started the current season, it was mostly due to some unfortunate player absence.
