Arsenal And Barcelona To Battle For The Signature Of Nigerian 'Next Okocha'
Arsenal are allegedly interested in signing Aston Villa teenager Carney Chukwuemeka who is dubbed as the 'next okocha', although they will face stiff competition for his services.
The north Londoners, who finished fifth in the Premier League standings, are interested in signing Chukwuemeka, according to Spanish source Cadena SER.
The Gunners, who are looking sign at least one central midfielder this summer, have been linked with Leicester City's Belgium international Youri Tielemans, as well as Chukwuemeka.
Chukwuemeka, who has just one year left on his contract with Steven Gerrard's side, has been linked with a move to Barcelona.
Chukwuemeka is also eligible to play for the national teams of Nigeria and Austria, where he was born, in addition to England.
The 18-year-old midfielder is highly regarded at Aston Villa, but he has grown disgruntled with his lack of playing time, having made only three starts in all competitions out of a possible 41 during the 2021-2022 campaign.
He debuted for England at the age of 19 in September 2021, and he has three goals in eight games, six of which were in the U19 EURO qualifiers.
Chukwuemeka is also eligible to play for the national teams of Nigeria and Austria, where he was born, in addition to England.
