Should Lukaku Continue To Lead Chelsea Attack Or Go For Another Striker Next Season?

Thomas Tuchel has been informed that Chelsea need to get an attacker, a striker to be precise with a very merciless quality in front of goal if they want to give Manchester City and Liverpool a run for their money in the league next season. 

A score draw with Man United on Thursday night left the Blues in a not too good mood after match winning chances were wasted by false striker, Kai Havertz.

Marcos Alonso put Thomas Tuchel's side ahead at Old Trafford Stadium only after two minutes, but Cristiano Ronaldo responded with a sublime goal. The skillful Portuguese striker showed no mercy in front of goal in order to level the score.

With Liverpool having a number of potent forwards like Sadio Mane, Mo Salah, Diogo Jota, and Man City potentially closing in on the deal for Haaland, the pressure will now be on manager, Thomas Tuchel to make an attacking trio that can match the same quality as their league rivals.

When questioned about this, Tuchel remained calm that he would continue to bank on the current crop of players at his disposal. 

Belgian striker, Romelu Lukaku returned to the club after a decade last summer in 2021 for a fee around £97.5m to solve Chelsea seeming draught in front of goal after Timo Werner failed to live up to expectations. 

But despite the effort to change the style of play of the team in his favor, he has only registered five goals in 23 Premier League games this season.

The 28-year-old Lukaku was at the centre of controversy late December last year when he reported being "not happy" with the Chelsea changed system employed by Tuchel during an interview with Sky Italia. 

In the same interview, he went on to express his wish to return to his former club Inter in the near future, but after holding talks with Tuchel, Lukaku issued an apology, saying "I'm sorry for the upset I have caused" and stated that he "wanted to move forward".

It is clear that Chelsea cannot keep going like this if they intend to fight for all four trophies next season against their top rivals. 

In the light of this, which striker would you suggest to Thomas Tuchel to go for in order to strengthen Chelsea's attacking threat next season?
