Premier League Hall Of Fame: Didier Drogba Joins Six New Icons Honoured For Their Impact.

The Premier League Hall of Fame has doubled in size, with the Class of 2022 joining last year’s inaugural Class of 2021, increasing the number of inductees from eight (8) to sixteen (16).

Sergio Aguero, Didier Drogba, Vincent Kompany, Peter Schmeichel, Paul Scholes, and Ian Wright becomes the latest Icons to be inducted into the Premier League Hall of Fame in 2022. 

Manchester City's legend and former captain Vincent Kompany made 265 appearances, scored 18 goals, kept 94 clean sheets and won 4 Premier League titles.

Chelsea legend and complete striker Didier Drogba played 254 league games, scored 104 goals, created 64 assists and won four Premier League titles. 

The 44-year-old Ivorian becomes the first African player inducted into the Premier League Hall of Fame.

Man City star Sergio Agüero made 275 games, 184 goals, 55 assists, and won 5 Premier League titles with the club.

They were chosen by the Premier League Awards Panel and the public in an online vote. They will be formally honored at an event in London this evening, Thursday 21 April, alongside Wayne Rooney and Patrick Vieira, as this year's inductees.

Since its founding in 1992, the Premier League Hall of Fame has recognized and celebrated the remarkable ability and talent of people who have graced the league. It is the League's highest individual honor given to players.

Last year, Thierry Henry and Alan Shearer were inducted into the Premier League Hall of Fame for the first time. David Beckham, Dennis Bergkamp, Eric Cantona, Steven Gerrard, Roy Keane, and Frank Lampard completed the "Class of 2021" after being chosen by a fan and panel vote.

Wayne Rooney of Manchester United and Everton and Patrick Vieira of Crystal Palace were both inducted into the Premier League Hall of Fame earlier this year.

A poll of 25 former players selected the six new honorees. All inductees receive a medallion with their name and the year of their induction inscribed on it, as well as a £10,000 donation from the Premier League to a charity of their choice.
