Erik Ten Hag Will Become Man United Next Manager.

Manchester United are close to making Ajax manager Erik ten Hag their new manager reports.

The appointment is set to be finalised in the coming days, with Erik ten Hag expected to be announced as their chosen candidate, as discussions about budget, players, long-term plans, staff members considered key points to reach full agreement. 

CloudNine Sports had reported last month that Ten Hag was interviewed by the United board after being one of a four-man shortlist alongside Paris Saint-Germain's Mauricio Pochettino, Spain coach Luis Enrique and Sevilla's Julen Lopetegui. 

Chelsea's Thomas Tuchel and Bayern Munich's Julian Nagelsmann are no longer viable option, as they are unattainable due to their commitment to their present clubs.

According to ESPN, Man United have decided to settle for Ten Hag as their new permanent manager and that the Ajax manager is ready to leave the Dutch champions to take charge at Old Trafford at the end of the season.

The 52-year-old would succeed Ole Gunnar Solskjaer at the hot-seat, even interim boss Ralf Rangnick who has been in charge since December, has approved of Erik ten Hag in private conversations, but not involved in any negotiation, it's up to the club to discuss details of the project with ten Hag.

If United are going to back him then he must be given the power to sell ANY player that doesn't fit his system regardless of their big names, commercial values or fan favorite status.

United are eager to make a decision on their next permanent manager as soon as possible, which is being led by football director Darren Fletcher and John Murtough reporting to chief executive Richard Arnold, with joint-chairman Joel Glazer having the final decision on the appointment.

Mauricio Pochettino '50' was an initial top target, despite the Argentine struggling to get the best from his star-studded squad at Paris Saint-Germain, combined with the potential cost of releasing him from the remaining 12 months of his contract at Parc des Princes, left the former Tottenham manager behind Ten Hag for both football and financial reasons.

PSG's early Champions League exit at the round-of-16 stage against Real Madrid, having led 2-0 in the tie, played a huge role in Pochettino not getting the United job, as the club is determined to avoid hiring a manager deemed to have failed in a recent role.

PSG's readiness to hold out for a £15 million compensation package was another issue for United, who are able to appoint Ten Hag if they pay a £1.7m compensation figure to Ajax.

The highly-rated Ten Hag has re-built the Ajax team during his time in his homeland, making the Dutch outfit club a side to be reckoned with on the domestic and European stages since his appointment in 2017.

He has gone on to win two Eredivisie titles and three domestic cups for the Amsterdam giants. He also led them to the Champions League semi-finals in 2019 and the last 16 of this year's competition, after a disappointing defeat to Portuguese side Benfica.

The Manchester United's dressing room was said to have been split early this week over the potential appointment of Erik ten Hag as the club's next permanent manager, with some stars preferring PSG boss Mauricio Pochettino.
