Arsenal get their Champions League quest back on track following a 4-2 win at Chelsea Wednesday night.
Eddie Nketiah was the hero for Arsenal on the night, as his brace and goals from Emile Smith Rowe and late penalty goal from Bukayo Saka seal crucial win for the Gunners at Stamford Bridge.
The reverse result earlier in the season saw Chelsea come out 2-0 victors thanks to goals from Romelu Lukaku and Reece James at the Emirates Stadium.
Chelsea cames into the encounter against London rivals off the back of three straight victories in all competitions, including the weekend's FA Cup semi-final win against Crystal Palace. Meanwhile, Arsenal have been beaten in their last three games - with Mikel Arteta determined to get his side back to winning ways as they chase a spot in next season's Champions League.
Both teams provided one of the most entertaining first 45 Minutes of football this season, with Nketiah opening the scoring for the Gunners in the 13th minute before the Blues roared back into the game courtesy of a deflected Timo Werner goal in 17th minute.
After some superb end to end action, the visitors then regained their lead again ten minute later through a classy finish from midfielder Emile Smith Rowe.
Arsenal slender lead didn't last long as Chelsea captain Cesar Azpilicueta managed to get his toe on the end of a Mason Mount cross to make it 2-2 at half-time.
Despite bringing on Thiago Silva for Christensen in the first half, Chelsea defensively woes continued in the second-half, as Arsenal took the lead again for a third time through a scruffy goal from Edward Nketiah again in the 57th minute.
The 22-year-old becomes the first Arsenal player to score two goals in a Premier League match against Chelsea since Robin van Persie's hat-trick in October 2011.
The Blues looked for a response but it never came this time around, as things even got more worse when Arsenal won a late penalty after Azpilicueta needlessly fouled Saka in the Chelsea box. The forward dusted himself off and converted the spot-kick to hand Arsenal a 4-2 win.
The defeat for Chelsea keeps them in third position, five points above Arsenal in fifth, while the win for Arsenal, re-ignited their bid for a top-four finish as they are now level on point with Tottenham who don't play until Saturday.
Chelsea manager Thomas Tuchel was not a happy man when he faced the media after his side's disappointing defeat at home to Arsenal;
"It was a totally wild and open game in the first half already at 2-2 after we came back twice... He said.
"We scored another two in the second half, unfortunately for the wrong side.
"It's a level of mistakes, the number of mistakes in consecutive games here at home, it's impossible at this kind of level. You don't see this. It's simply impossible, but we're doing this at the moment, and you cannot win football games like this.
"We conceded seven goals against Brentford and Real Madrid, that answers the question. It's not about individual players. A defensive performance is a team performance, and an offensive performance is a team performance.
"We have to face the reality that it's impossible to win matches if you make this amount of mistakes of this calibre. It's simply impossible. I don't see it in any other matches, but I see it now in consecutive matches of our games, and it has to stop.
"It must be something, but it is also possible to don't do it because we proved it in the last three matches, and we thought we learned our lesson from Brentford and Real Madrid but obviously not."
