Confirmed Quarter-final, Semi-final and Final Draw Of The 2021/22 Champions League.

The draw for the final knockout stages of the Champions League has been completed on Friday in Nyon, Switzerland, with some mouthwatering ties expected ahead of the final in Paris.

After overcoming Lille 4-1 on aggregate in the last 16 on Wednesday night, Chelsea who are the Champions League holders, were in the pot alongside Liverpool, Manchester City, Bayern Munich, Villarreal, Real Madrid, Atletico Madrid and Benfica.

Any of the eight teams could face each other, with no restrictions in place regarding the nation a team is from or the group they emerged from in Europe's premier competition.

The Blues could see their semi-final and final from last season played a round earlier, after they were handed a tough tie against Real Madrid in the quarter-finals of the Champions League.

Chelsea got the better of Real over two legs in the semi-finals of last season's competition, defeating the Los Blancos side 3-1 on aggregate.

Chelsea tie reversed!

The Chelsea vs Real Madrid is reportedly set to be reversed with Chelsea playing their home leg second as both Atletico Madrid and Real Madrid cannot play home games in Madrid during the same week due to logistics and crowd control measures. Atletico has the advantage as they are La Liga champions.

This development have inadvertently given Chelsea more time to resolve their issues surrounding selling tickets and having fans in the stadium ahead of their Champions League quarterfinal clash with Real Madrid at Stamford Bridge.

Manchester City, who were finalists in last year's competition, losing to Chelsea 1-0 in the final at the Estádio do Dragão in Porto, strolled into this season quarter-finals following a 5-0 aggregate win over Sporting Lisbon, with all of their goals coming in the first leg in the Portuguese capital.

City will take on Atletico for the very first time in European competition, Atletico had knocked-out Manchester United 2-1 on aggregate on Tuesday night to become the third La Liga side to advance to the last-8.

Should Chelsea and City come through their respective quarter-finals ties, then they will face each other in the last four in a repeat of last season's all-Englands final.

Liverpool having won the Carabao Cup late last month are still on course for an unprecedented quadruple. The 2019 champions advance to the quarter-finals, doing the bulk of their work in the first leg, winning 2-0 at Inter Milan before a 1-0 defeat to the Italian champions at Anfield.

The six times champions will be the happiest of the three English sides with the draw, as they set to face Portuguese side Benfica in the last-8.

2020 champions Bayern Munich would face last year's Europa League champions Villarreal in the last-8.

Liverpool will take on Villarreal or Bayern Munich if they can overcome Benfica, who will play the first leg of their quarter-final at home.

Meanwhile, Despite the ongoing uncertainty going on around Chelsea in the wake of the sanctions against owner Roman Abramovich, the Blues boss Thomas Tuchel has praised the mentality of his players in this ‘uncertain and unstable’ times;

"Chelsea has this kind of culture within the club, the building we work every day. What I found from day one is football first mentality," said the German manager.

"Everybody pushes the first team to the limit, focused on football and football first. Then we try to implement the atmosphere. This culture is already installed and helps us to focus in difficult, distracting times.

"We need to encourage the players of course but I am also just a part, it feels so good we can produce results. I am very proud."

Speaking following his side's victory over Lille, the Blues boss who lifted the trophy last season wasn't too worried about the other teams however.

"I want us to be the team nobody wants to play,"  the former PSG and Dortmund coach added.

"This is the role we see ourselves in this round of eight. It's a big step to do it again, again, and again. We fight for the top four places in the toughest league maybe in the world right now and we fight in the last eight again [in the Champions League]. So this brings out the best in us and we want to be the team nobody wants to play against. So let's see what happens."
