OFFICIAL: The PLAY-OFF DRAW For The 2022 FIFA World Cup Africa Qualifiers Has Been Set.

The draw for the 2022 FIFA World Cup African qualifying playoffs has been done today January 22nd in Douala, Cameroon, two days after the end of the group stage of the Africa Cup of Nations.

The playoffs draw which was supposed to have been held on 18th December 2021, was postponed to 22nd January 2022 by CAF, and the January 2022 rankings was used to seed the teams during the draw.

The Confederation of African Football director of competitions Samson Adamu while Senegal football great El Hadji Diouf and former Togo captain Emmanuel Adebayor assisted in steering the draw.

Nigeria, Algeria, Senegal, Tunisia, Cameroon, Ghana, Mali, DR Congo, Egypt and Morocco are the teams that qualified for the playoffs after topping their groups in the qualifiers.

Algeria, Senegal, Morocco Nigeria and Tunisia were the seeded teams and will be in pot one, meaning they were not eligible to face each other.

Egypt, Cameroon, Ghana DR Congo and Mali are the unseeded countries in pot two, and were drawn against the teams in pot one.

All participating countries are to install VAR technology in their stadiums. Failure to do so will give room for the match to be played in another complying country.

The first leg would be played between March 24-29, 2022 while  the second leg will also be played in the same month.

Winners over two legs will represent Africa in the World Cup scheduled to be played in Qatar from 21 November to 18 December 2022.
