Man United Forward Anthony Martial Set To Join Sevilla For The Remainder Of The Season.

Anthony Martial is set to join Sevilla on loan for the rest of the season after Manchester United reached an agreement on Monday with the Spanish club CloudNine Sports understands.

Despite playing a key role in United's late dramatic winner against West Ham at Old Trafford on Saturday, the Frenchman had asked to leave the club this month in search of more regular game time in other to boost his chances of making it to the France World Cup squad later this year.

 

Martial has so far scored 79 times in 269 appearances the Red Devil's, but have falling down the pecking order in the Man United forward position following the arrival of Cristiano Ronaldo and Jadon Sancho in the summer, as well as the emergence of Mason Greenwood, Anthony Elanga and Amad Diallo under interim boss Ralf Rangnick.

He has started just four games for United this season, and last week Ralf Rangnick claimed that Martial refused to be part of the squad in the 2-2 draw at Aston Villa.

Martial vehemently denied his manager's claim on social media, and Rangnick later insisted the situation was "resolved".

United had rejected an initial loan request from Sevilla earlier in the month but negotiations have been positive over the weekend, and the player himself had made clear to the Andalusian club that he only wanted to join them.

According to reports, Between five and six million euros must be paid by the Seville club for the four-month loan, which is just less than half the salary he was due to receive in Manchester, with no loan fee being paid.

Anthony Martial also agreed a reduction in his salary in order for him to join Sevilla on loan, with fears over the club not merely wanting to give him away.

Juventus and Barcelona were one of the other sides who were interested in Martial but sources say Sevilla were his preferred choice, because that where he will play more.

The 26-year-old is expected to fly Spain for a medical in the coming hours, and he will be available to train with his new team on Thursday, when the Los Rojiblancos side return to work.

The transfer would see the former Monaco man who joined Man United as one of the most expensive teenager in 2015, join Sevilla at a crucial time for the Spanish club.

Following Saturday's 2-2 draw at home to Celta Vigo, Sevilla are currently second in La Liga and just four points behind leaders Real Madrid as they search for their first title since 1946.
