Raphael Varane Indicates Interest With Man United, As He Wants Real Madrid Exit.
Real Madrid star Raphael Varane has been a top target defensive signing for Manchester United this summer.
The Red Devils are looking to sign new defenders this summer, in other to strengthen their backline for next season's campaign.
According to reports, Raphael Varane has indicated that he wants to move to Old Trafford, and Real Madrid are now prepared to let the centre-back go after failing in their bid to offer him a new contract extension at the club.
Varane has entered into the last year of his current contract with the Los Blancos side, which is set to expire next year, meaning that Real would lose him as a free agent next year if they refuse sell the French-man this summer.
Sources from Spanish publication SportWitness reveals that Varane’s camp has agreed personal terms with United that would double his present salary.
Real were offering a €7m (£6m) salary per-year, but it is suggested United are willing to pay him €12m (£10.3m), equating to £200,000 per week which he wanted in order to remain at Real.
The Spanish club have already loosed one of their best defenders Segio Ramos who is expected to join PSG in the coming days, but they signed David Alaba and had also been linked with Pau Torres and Jules Kounde to take Varane's place.
Despite being linked with a move to with Paris Saint-Germain, Varane is keen in joining Ole Gunnar Solskjaer's side before the pre-season training begins in a couple of weeks, ending his 10 extremely successful years stay at the Spanish capital.
United have previously been linked with the 28-year-old for a couple of years, before he he signed for Real Madrid as teenager from Lens for a reported fee of €11m under the guidance of former boss Jose Mourinho in June 2011.
Ole Gunnar Solskjaer now appear able to finally get their man, only if they can reach an agreement over a transfer fee with Madrid who are making Varane available for €60m (£51.5m), but United are so far willing to pay €45m (£38.6m) for the defender.
United has been active in the summer transfer window this past weeks, following the signing of Tom Heaton and the announcement that a deal has been agreed with Borussia Dortmund for Jadon Sancho who is subject medicals.
Varane's imminent arrival at the Theatre of Dreams, would see him partner Harry Maguire at the back-line next season, replacing Victor Lindelof who has not delivered as expected since his arrival from Benfica.
