Tottenham Finally Appionts Nuno Espírito Santo As New Manager Of The Club.

Nuno Esprito Santo has officially been confirmed on Wednesday as the new head coach of Tottenham Hotspur, the club has confirmed.

It brings an end to their nearly two-and-a-half months (72-days) of seeking for a replacement for former José Mourinho, who was sacked on April 19, just before the Caraboa Cup final.

Ryan Mason was immediately appointed on an interim basis, overseeing the first team for their Carabao Cup final defeat to Manchester City and the end of the Premier League campaign.

Spurs were linked with several high-profile managers and were rejected by most of them which includes last season Serie A winner Antonio Conte who turned down a deal as he was left unconvinced by the club's future project.

They weere also heavily heavily linked to former boss Mauricio Pochettino for a return. Early hopes of recruiting highly rated trio Julian Nagelsmann, Brendan Rodgers and Erik ten Hag were also dashed, and efforts to sign Paulo Fonseca, Gennaro Gattuso, and Sevilla boss Julen Lopetegui also collapsed within the space of 24 chaotic hours.

Nuno left Wolves at the end of the 2020-21 season, ending a successful four-year stint at the Molineux, as he joins Spurs on a two-year deal until 2023, with an option to extend by another year should he prove to be a success.

“When you have a squad with quality and talent, we want to make the fans proud and enjoy,” Nuno told the club’s official website.

“It’s an enormous pleasure and honour, there’s joy and I’m happy and looking forward to starting work. We don’t have any days to lose and we must start working immediately as pre-season starts in a few days.”

Spurs chairman Daniel Levy added: “We should like to thank our supporters for all their patience throughout this process.

"I’ve spoken already about the need to revert back to our core DNA of playing attacking, entertaining football and Fabio and believe Nuno is the man who can take our talented group of players, embrace our young players coming through and build something special.”

The 47-year-old Portuguese manager, was on the verge of taking the Crystal Palace job before a last-minute change of heart, and was also linked with Everton before they appointed Rafael Benitez earlier on Wednesday.

Espirito Santo was in charge of Valencia in the 2014/15 season when they swept back into the top four in La Liga, qualifying for Champions League football with a back four and scoring 70 goals in the league and conceding just 32.

He won manager of the month awards galore that season and it's hard to ignore the fact that in England he brought Wolves up into the Premier League, after winning the Championship in his first season.
