Phil Foden Crowned The Premier League Young Player Of The 2020/21 Season.

Manchester City youngster Phil Fiden has been crowned the Premier League Young Player of the Year.

The accolade for Foden means that the Cityzen's have secured a hat-trick of Premier League awards for the just concluded 2020/21 season, with Ruben Dias, and Pep Guardiola voted earlier today as the Player, and Manager of the season respectively.

Foden played a crucial roles in City’s title-winning campaign, as well as helping Guardiola’s men claim the Carabao Cup and reach their maiden Champions League final last Saturday.

He scored nine goals and produced five assists in 28 Premier League appearances across 2020/21. He is also a PFA player of the year nominee.

The 21-year-old emerged winner ahead of team-mate Ruben Dias, Mason Mount, Marcus Rashford, Declan Rice, Bukayo Saka, Illan Meslier and Dominic Calvert-Lewin to clinch the award.

Foden who has been a City academy product, since the age of 4, came into limelight in professional football when he won the FIFA U-17 World Cup Golden Ball award in 2017 following England's successful Under-17 World Cup campaign.

He has represented England at many youth levels, scoring 19 goals in 51 youth caps. He was first called up to the senior team on 25 August 2020 by head-coach Gareth Southgate and made his debut in a UEFA Nations League game against Iceland last year September.

Foden is currently with the England squad ahead of the 2020 Euros which begins next weekend.
