Inter Milan Appionts Simeone Inzaghi As Replacement For Former Manager Antonio Conte.

Inter Milan has appionted Simeone Inzaghi as new manager of the club, following the departure of Antonio Conte last week.

The 45-year-old Italian, joins the Nerrazzuri on Thursday, signing a two-year deal which will keep him at the San Siro dugout until the summer of 2023.

This would effectively see him end a 5-year stay as Lazio boss, a club he once played for between 1999-2010, winning seven trophies, including the Scudetto.

Simeone Inzaghi who is the younger brother of AC Milan legend Fillipo Inzaghi, is set to replace Antonio Conte as manager of the Serie A champions.

Conte had ended Juventus nine-years of dominance in the Serie A in the just concluded season, by winning Inter's 19th Scudetto title for the first time since 2010.

But according to reports, Conte decided to exit the club because Inter would have to sell some of their star players this summer to raise about €100 million as they are in serious financial crises. 

The absence of fans from the stadiums since the coronavirus pandemic, has had a huge financial impact on the club, and Conte needed the board to spend in the summer.

There is a chance that either Romelu Lukaku, Lautaro Martinez, Achraf Hakimi and Milan Skriniar could all leave the club this summer so as to raise funds.

Several managers like Maurizio Sarri, Paulo Fonseca, Sinisa Mihajlovic and Sergio Conceicao were all linked to take over the Inter job. Max Allegri was also in contact before re-joining Juventus last week.

Simeone Inzaghi also has a vast experience in coaching, having coached the Lazio youth team, before he was appointed as permanent boss at Lazio senior team, replacing Marcelo Bielsa who left the post after less than two days due to undisclosed reasons.

S. Inzaghi led the Lazio back to the Champions League for the first time since the 2007/08 season, and also won the Coppa Italia with the club in the 2018/19 season, including two Italian Super Cups in 2017 and 2019.

Prior to Inzaghi's appointment as Inter boss, he was handed a huge boost after Romelu Lukaku who has been tipped to follow Conte's footstep and exit the club this summer confirmed that he would stay.

"I've already had contact with the man who normally becomes our new manager [Inzaghi]. Maybe I shouldn't say that yet... but it was a very positive conversation. Lukaku said on Wednesday.

"There's also the challenge of doing it again [winning the league with Inter]. I feel good at Inter."
