Chelsea Emerge Serious Contenders For Erling Haaland.
Chelsea have emerged top contenders in the pursuit of Borussia Dortmund highly rated star Erling Braut Haaland.
The West London club have opened discussions with a move for Haaland which could see Dortmund and his agent Mino Raiola demand a high fee of almost £170m for the youngster.
Signing a striker is a top priority for Chelsea this summer and manager Thomas Tuchel is believed to have his eyes set on trying to lure Erling Haaland to Stamford Bridge.
The main obstacle could be the wage-structure at Chelsea, with Haaland’s expected wage demands would be least £300,000 per week.
Tuchel has made it clear, that the missing link in his squad that will enter next season as the best club side in Europe, is signing a prolific centre forward. And according reports, Sports director Marina Granovskaia and Chelsea owner Roman Abramovich are set to complete deal.
The Blues had signed striker Timo Werner RB Leipzig in a deal worth around £50million last summer, but the German has failed to reach expectations in getting the goals on a regular basis.
Werner ended the just concluded season as the club's joint-top leading goalscorer with 12 goals alongside forgotten man Tammy Abraham.
Tammy has been highly tipped to depart the club for £40m this summer, and could be included in exchange to the deal to land Haaland.
Chelsea have been linked with a host of strikers from across Europe in recent month, including a move for Harry Kane from fellow London rivals Tottenham which could be a difficult one, and Abramovich's favorite Romelu Lukaku who decided last week to remain with the Serie A champions Inter Milan.
Haalaand could be a very difficult move for the European Champions, as the 20-year-old, is considered as one of the brightest prospects in world football, an therefore wanted by all of Europe’s top clubs including Man United and Real Madrid.
The Norwegian striker, enjoyed a simply stunning campaign for Dortmund, scoring a breathtaking 41 goals in 41 games in all competitions.
He also finished as the top scorer in the 2020/21 Champions League, with 10 goals.
