Man City Team Led By Pep Guardiola, Reach Their First EVER Champions League Final Courtesy Of Mahrez Double. (Match Report And Highlight)

Manchester City cruise to their first ever Champions League final after knocking out last season finalist PSG on Tuesday night.

The semi-final return leg clash which went down at the Etihad Stadium saw Riyad Mahrez's scoring a double in the 11th and 63rd minute to secure a 2-0 win (4-1 on aggregate) over 10-man Paris Saint-Germain on a historic night.

Just like in the first-leg when Idrissa Gueye was sent off, PSG frustration boiled over as Angel Di Maria was shown a straight red card by referee Bjorn Kuipers of Holland in the 69th minute for a kick out on Fernandinho after the ball went out of play.

The Algerian also scored the winning goal for City last week in Paris, making it a total of 4 goals and two assists for Mahrez in the knockout stage of the Champions League.

Man City's victory against PSG is made all the sweeter by City breaking yet another record.

They have now won their past seven Champions League matches and that is a new record for the longest winning run by an English team in European Cup history.

The three other sides to have won six consecutive games are Manchester United in (1965-66), Leeds (1969-70) and Arsenal (2005).

"This is remarkable," said Man City boss Pep  Guardiola who reaches the Champions League final for the first time in 10-years.

The Spaniard last won the competition with Barcelona in 2011 defeating Man United 3-1 in the final played at the New Wembley stadium at the time.

"People believe it's easy to arrive in the final of the Champions League. Getting to the final now makes sense of what we have done in the past four or five years... Said Guardiola.

"Every day these guys have been consistent. We scored a goal through the hips [of the defensive wall] in the first game, and today Marquinhos hit the bar in the first half - you can be out for little details.

"Manchester United won a title because of John Terry's slip and scored in the last minute against Bayern Munich and Real Madrid won a title against Atletico in the 93rd minute. It's a competition that is so difficult and something in the stars is involved in that.

"I want to thank the owner, the chairman and the staff at the club. This club is about all the people that work behind the scenes, it's not just about money. If you want to think that then you are wrong."

Since his appointment as Man City manager in February 2016, The former Bayern Munich boss, have been knocked out in the quarter-finals in the past three seasons by Lyon, Tottenham and Liverpool and lost in the last 16 to Monaco in his first season in charge.

City have been playing in the Champions League for a 10th successive season and had only once before reached the semi-final stage, losing 1-0 over the two legs to Real Madrid in 2015-16 season under former manager Manuel Pellegrini.

Guardiola who has never taken City past the quarter-finals, are now just 90 minutes away from lifting their first historic Champions League title. They wait to face either Chelsea or Real Madrid in the final in Istanbul on Saturday, May 29.

The Cityzens could also complete the treble this season, as they have been very dominant in the Premier League, They need just a win against Chelsea this weekend to clinch their third Premier League title in four years under Guardiola. 

They've already lifted the Carabao Cup after beating Tottenham Hotspur late last month.
