PSG and Chelsea Advance To The Semi-finals Of The Champions League.
Paris Saint-Germain and Chelsea have both advanced to the 2020/21 Champions League semi-finals after knocking out defending champions Bayern Munich and FC Porto respectively.
Reigning champions Bayern Munich crashed out of the Champions League as PSG held their nerve to reach the semi-finals for second consecutive season despite losing 1-0 at home.
The Parisians gained revenge for defeat in last year's final as they qualified based on the away goals rule.
PSG dominated play in the five goal thriller first-leg tie in Munich last week as they secured a 3-2 victory.
The game at the Parc des Princes on Tuesday night, saw ex-PSG striker Eric Maxim Choupo-Moting nodded in the only goal of the night from David Alaba's just before half-time to give Bayern a lifeline.
Maxim Choupo-Moting also scored against Paris Saint German in the first leg, but his goal in the return-leg, was not enough to overturn the 3-2 deficit, as they needed to score just one more goal to have qualified over a stubborn PSG side. PSG 0-1 Bayern (agg 3-3) it ended.
Bayern Munich manager Hansi Flick said after the game:
"Given the first leg, with all our chances and the ones we gave away; without the third goal, we would be through. You saw how dangerous they are in attack.
"Huge compliments to my team, even though Paris progressed. As a fair loser, I would like to congratulate them"
"Normally, my team has so much quality in the final third, but today they were lacking that final punch. .
"We have to accept that, even though we would have liked a different outcome."
PSG will now face the winner between Manchester City Vs Borussia Dortmund in the semi-final. It would definitely be a tough one to decide as Manchester City defeated Borussia Dortmund 2-1 in the first leg, Borussia Dortmund have an away goal advantage going into the return-leg tomorrow in Germany.
Meanwhile, In the second quarter-final game that went down on the night, the Blues held firm to reach the Champions League semi-finals as the allow the visitors very little chances in quarter-final return-leg in Spain on Tuesday night.
Chelsea went into the game with a 2-0 away win advantage last week.
The match which was said to be a dull encounter, saw Mehdi Taremi score a very late stunning overhead kick past Edouard Mendy but Porto were too poor for most of the gmosta
Taremi's moment of genius was the undoubted highlight of the game but looked dejected at full-time as the Blues held firm to reach the semi-finals for tge first time in seven years. Chelsea 0-1 Porto (agg 2-1) it ended.
They'll have to navigate past either Real Madrid or Liverpool to reach the final in Istanbul.
Real Madrid might have higher chances of qualifying for the next stage of the competition as they won Liverpool by 3-1 in the first leg in Madrid. Liverpool could have a come back tomorrow as they did against Barcelona, as they need just two unreplied goals to qualify for the next stage of the competition.
