OFFICIAL: Kelechi Iheanacho And Thomas Tuchel Wins The Premier League Player/Manager Of The Month For March.
Leicester City forward Kelechi Iheanacho has been named the Premier League Player of the Month for March.
Ịheanachọ scored five goals from three games in the Premier League in March, including a goal against Burnley, Brighton, and a first Premier League hattrick against Sheffield United on March 14, that's two more goals than any other player.
He becomes the only fourth Nigerian to win the Player of the Month award after Jay-Jay Okocha in November 2003, Peter Odemwingie in September 2010, April 2011, February 2012, and Odion Ighalo in December 2015 to have won the award.
Iheanacho emerged winner ahead of Spurs star Harry Kane, West Ham sensation Jesse Lingard, Man United left-back Luke Shaw, Man City's winger Riyad Mahrez, Chelsea defender Andreas Christensen, Leeds shot-stopper Illan Meslier, and Brighton's Leandro Trossard who were also nominated for the award.
He has nine goals in his last nine games - having failed to score in his previous 12 matches, and would be looking to continue his decent form when they host his former team Manchester City on Saturday.
Meanwhile, Chelsea manager Thomas Tuchel also claimed the Managers Of The Month for March award.
Tuchel's side didn't concede any single Premier League goal in March, which includes a 1-0 win away to last season champions Liverpool, a 2-0 victory at home to Everton, and a goalless draw away to Leeds United.
The German manager scooped the award ahead of Man United manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, Leicester City's Brendan Rodgers, and Brighton's Graham Potter.
He would be looking forward to extend his unbeaten record with Chelsea to 15 games when they host West Brom in the early Premier League kick-off on Saturday.
