Bayern Munich Defender David Alaba To Leave The Club On A Free Transfer After 13 Years.

Bayern Munich defender David Alaba has agreed to join Real Madrid on a free transfer in the summer.

The Austrian defender would be out of contract with Bayern at the end of the season, as both sides have failed to reach an agreement on a new deal, which will see him end his 13-years stay in Munich.

He will sign a five-year contract, with Sky in Germany claiming that the confirmation is expected to be done in the next few weeks.

Alaba had earlier announced in February that he would be leaving the Champions League holders to go face a new challenge somewhere else.

The 28-year-old who can play in defence and midfield, has reportedly been linked with a move to the Premier League, while Real Madrid are regarded as the favourites for his signature.

Alaba featured in Tuesday’s 2-0 home win against Leverkusen which leaves Bayern 10 points clear at the top of the Bundesliga, and could be on the verge of winning his 10th Bundesliga title this season.

It would be a ninth consecutive Bundesliga crown for Bayern if they beat Mainz on Saturday.

Alaba has made 428 appearances, scoring 33 goals for Bayern so far since his promotion from the youth team in 2011.

He has won a wealth of trophies which includes nine Bundesliga titles, two Champions Leagues, two Club World Cup wins, six German Cups among other silverware.

CloudNine Sports understands that Bayern who recently crashed out in the quarter-finals of this season Champions League based on the away goal rule against PSG, have already signed a replacement, agreeing a deal to bring in 23-year-old French defender Dayot Upamecano from RB Leipzig this summer.
