Chelsea Defender Malang Sarr Joins FC Porto On A Season-Long Loan.

Chelsea defender Malang Sarr has joined Portuguese club side FC Porto on a season-long loan, with no option or obligation to buy in the deal.

The 21-year-old French defender joined the Blues earlier this summer on a free transfer, having left his boyhood club Nice when his contract came to an end.

He signed a five-year contract with Chelsea following an impressive season in the Ligue 1, but the plan was to loan him out immediately so as to garner more experience at the top level.

The deal was confirmed by FC Porto on Tuesday, as Sarr was unveiled to the media just hours before the close of the transfer window on October 6 in Portugal.

Malang Sarr will get the opportunity to play Champions League football with the Portuguese champions, as he would add strength to the Porto's defence following the departure of Alex Telles to Manchester United on Monday night.

Saint-Etienne, Genoa and Sampdoria all made an attempt to sign the left-footed defender but he chose to join Porto for the 2020-21 season, and will wear the No.32 shirt for the club.

He is expected to make a big impact for Chelsea in the future who made the most expensive acquisition in this summer transfer window, having spent close to £230million on landing 8 new players, with Timo Werner, Kai Havertz, Ben Chilwell, Edouard Mendy being the most expensive additions at Stamford Bridge.

Meanwhile, a whooping 21 players left with Willian and Pedro leaving on a free transfer, other notable players like, Ruben Loftus-Cheek, Ross Barkley, Tiemoue Bakayoko, Michy Batshuayi, and Davide Zappacosta all leaving on-loan to different clubs.
