BREAKING: Liverpool Star Sadio Mane Has Tested Positive For Coronavirus.

Liverpool star Sadio Mane has tested positive for coronavirus and he is currently self-isolating.

The Senegalese international becomes the second Liverpool player to have contacted the virus this week after CloudNine Sports had reported earlier that, new signing Thiago Alcantara tested positive on Tuesday.

Liverpool confirmed the news late on Friday night saying that the winger had "displayed minor symptoms of the virus but feels in good health overall".

The 28-year-old will now be self-isolating immediately for 10-14 days according to the necessary guidelines.

Mane last played and scored for the Reds in a 3-1 win over Arsenal on Monday night, but was not included the squad that lost to the Gunners via penalties in the fourth round of the League Cup on Thursday.

"Like with Thiago Alcantara, Liverpool are - and will continue to - following all protocols relating to Covid-19 and Mane will self-isolate for the required period of time"... reads a brief statement from the club website.

He is set to miss the Premier League game away to Aston Villa this weekend, and next-week International duty with his country Senegal.

Having quarantined for the required period of time, it is currently unclear if either Mane or Alcantara will be available for the Merseyside derby on Saturday, October 17. 

Following the news, Mane took to his official Instagram page and wrote:

"Hello I´ve been tested positive but I am feeling good and not showing heavy symptoms. I will begin my quarantine and recovery process immediately.

"Make sure that you stay safe and follow all rules to protect yourself and your loved ones to avoid a second wave of the COVID-19 Virus spreading all over the world.

"I will be back stronger than before! We will get through this together."

The Reds No.10 has been recently nominated for the Premier League Player of the Month award for September.

He has started all three top-flight matches this season, scoring three goals, which includes a brace against Chelsea at Stamford Bridge and a goal against Arsenal at Anfield, as the champions took all maximum points.
