Zlatan Ibrahimovic Has Tested Positive For Coronavirus Ahead Of Milan's Europa League Qualifiers.

AC Milan star Zlatan Ibrahimovic had tested positive for coronavirus, the club confirms on Thursday. 

The Swedish striker is set to miss Thursday night's Europa League third round qualifying game against Norwegian club side Bodo/Glimt at the San Siro. 

He has therefore, been placed in quarantine at home, away from his team-mates and club staff.

"Zlatan Ibrahimovic has tested positive for Covid-19 following a second round of swab tests ahead of tonight's game against Bodø/Glimt.... reads the club's official statement. 

"The Club has informed the relevant authorities and the player has been promptly placed in quarantine at home. 

"All other team members and staff have tested negative."

The 38-year-old forward, becomes the second Milan player to test positive for Covid-19 after Brazilian defender Leo Duarte did so in the first round of swabs on Tuesday, and would also be out of Thursday's game. 

Ibrahimovic has been in great form since the start of the new season. He scored Milan's first goal of in the second qualifying round Europa league 2-0 victory away to Irish club Shamrock Rovers last Thursday, and also scored a brace in their 2-0 Serie A opener victory against Bologna last Monday.

He may also likely miss out of the Serie A game away to Crotone on Sunday, and next week's Europa League play-off round fixture against either Besiktas or Rio Ave should Milan advance tonight.

Zlatan recently signed a new one-year contract at the San Siro this summer following his successful return to the club from the LA Galaxy in January 2020. He has so far scored 14 goals in 22 appearances across all competitions.
