OFFICIAL: Liverpool Completes The Signing Of Thiago Alcantara From Bayern Munich.

Liverpool have officially announced the permanent signing of Thiago Alcantara from Bayern Munich for a reported fee of £20million, which could evetually rise to £25m in bonuses.

The Spanish midfielder arrived England on Friday to complete a medical, ending weeks of several speculations consigning his future, as he signed a four-year contract, which will keep him at Anfield until June 2024. 

He will wear the No.6 shirt for the Reds, a number he has always worn through-out his career.

According to sources, Bayern added a clause to Alcantara's deal, which states that should Liverpool win the Premier League or Champions League again before 2024, they will have to pay Bayern another £5million while there are other bonuses should he win any individual honours during his time at Anfield.

Alcantara becomes Jurgen Klopp's second signing of the transfer window, following the arrival of Greek left-back Kostas Tsimikas in August, as the German looks to be bolstering his squad in order to retain the Premier League title with Liverpool.

"Absolutely great - I'm really happy that it finally worked out and we could just do it," said Jurgen Klopp.

"I know all the people at Bayern wanted to keep him desperately. That's normal and understandable because he played an important role, in the last season as well.

"He just was ready for a new challenge and he decided for us."

Thiago Alcantara who is in the best form of his life, also expressed his delight on joining the Premier League champions vai the club's website; 

“I think it’s an amazing feeling. I was waiting for this moment for a long time and I am very, very happy to be here... said the 29-year-old.

“When the years are passing, you are trying to win as much as you can – and when you win, you want to win more. I think this club describes what I am as well; I want to achieve all of the goals, win as many trophies as possible.

“I must adapt to the team as fast as I can in the situation and the context that we are living right now... He added

“Everything is more compact and we started a little bit later, but still it is football and I think we have to mix all the big things up, all the good things we have. 

"I will help the team in a defensive and offensive way and also in a mental aspect".

Thiago transfer to Anfield, would see him end a 7 trophy laden years at the Allianz Arena where he made 40 appearances across all competitions last season, scoring three goals and providing two assists.

He also helped Bayern clinch a prestigious treble as they won the Bundesliga, German cup and Champions League in 2019-20.

Thiago began his career at Barcelona, before moving to Germany to become Pep Guardiola's first signing at Bayern Munich in 2013, despite being heavily linked with a move to Man United.

In total, Thiago has won nine league titles (two La Liga's and seven consecutive Bundesliga titles), including one Copa del Rey, one Spanish Super Cup, four DFB-Pokal, one German Super Cup, two Champions Leagues, two FIFA Club World Cups, with his respective previous teams.
