Neymar Accuses Marseille's Defender Alvaro Gonzalez Of Racially Insulting Him On Sunday

Paris Saint-Germain star Neymar has claimed that he was a victim of a racist abuse from Marseille defender Alvaro Gonzalez during the French Ligue 1 game aganist Olympique Marseille on Sunday.

The 28-year-old Brazilian, was one of five players who were shown a straight red card for hitting Alvaro Gonzalez at the back of the head, which led to a brawl between both sides, just minutes before the full-time whistle at the Parc des Princes.

Florian Thauvin's only goal in the 31st minute, ensures that Marseille claims all three points in the highly dramatic and tensed match against the Parisians.

PSG’s Laywin Kurzawa and Leandro Paredes, as well as Marseille’s Dario Benedetto and Jordan Amavi were also sent off after the players aimed punches and kicks at each other.

Neymar had informed the fourth official of the racial comment while leaving the field before detailing what happened after the match in a social media post, and that his only regret he has was "not hitting the a*****e in the face".

"VAR spotting my 'attack' is easy, Now I want to see it pick up the image of the racist calling me “MONO HIJO DE PUTA” (monkey motherfucker). That's what I want to see. And then? I do a rainbow flick, you punish me .. For a slap, I get sent off … what about them? What then?"

A few hours later, the Spaniard and former Espanyol player Gonzalez who has reportedly had the same sought of incident with Messi, took to his Twitter handle to hit back on Neymar and denied the accusations.

"There is no place for racism. A clean career and with many team-mates and friends on a day to day basis. Sometimes you have to learn how to lose and accept it on the field. Incredible three points today, Allez l'OM thank you family"... He tweeted in French, adding a picture of him alongside his teammates.

But the angry Neymar wasn’t having any of it, as he replied tweeting;

“You are not a man to assume your mistake, losing is part of the sport. Now insulting and bringing racism into our lives no, I don't agree. I DON'T RESPECT YOU! YOU HAVE NO CHARACTER! Assume what you say mermon ... be a MAN RAPÁ! RACIST.”

  The Paris Saint-Germain coach Thomas Tuchel when asked about the incident afterwards, admitted that he did not hear anything from the touchline, neither did the referee, but also reiterated that there is no place for racism in football.

“Neymar told me that it was a racist insult. I didn’t hear anything on the field," the German said. 

"I think everyone has the same opinion that racism in live, in all society, or in sport, should not exist.”

However, after the game, Marseille coach Andre Villas-Boas tried to defend his player, as he accuses PSG forward Angel Di Maria of spitting at Alvaro;

"I don't know. I hope not, there is no place for racism in football"... the former Spurs and Chelsea boss told Telefoot in an interview.

when asked he if had heard any racist language,

"It's a serious problem if it happened but I don't think so. Before that, we had a situation with a spit from Di Maria. 

"These are things to avoid in the world of football. I hope it won't be a black spot in this historic performance."

CloudNine Sports understands that the victory for Marseille, sees them end a 9-year run of failing to beat PSG in all competitions since November 2011.

It also means that PSG have lost their first two opening Ligue 1 matches for the first time since 1984-85, after previously losing to newly promoted Lens side last Friday.

Meanwhile, if after all necessary investigation have been done, and Alvaro is found guilty of racism, he is to be severely punished by the Ligue 1.
