Man United Boss "Solskjaer" Faces Heavy Criticism For His Treatment Over Ighalo At The Club.

Former Nigeria striker Victor Ezeji has heavily criticised Manchester United manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer over the way he is treating Odion Ighalo at the club.

Odion Ighalo had joined his dream club Man United from the Chinese super league on loan in the January transfer window, as he became the first Nigerian to play for the Red Devils.

Despite proving all critics and doubters wrong following his impressive start at Old Trafford in the cup competitions (FA Cup and Europa League), scoring five goals in eight matches, the 31-year-old have failed to be given a chance to replicate his sensational performance in the Premier League.

He is yet to play more than 20 minutes in a single Premier League match, as he his been barely played by the United boss, most especially after the return of football in June from the coronavirus lockdown period.

Solskjaer decided to keep benching Ighalo, as he keeps faith in Anthony Martial and Marcus Rashford following his return from injury, even when it was obvious that the duo were not meeting up in some games.

“It wasn’t really nice that a player’s contract was renewed and you didn’t even allow him to play up to 20 minutes of any Premier League game... Victor Ezeji told Goal.

"That is not encouraging. It makes a player lose all the confidence he has built over time.”

“Every coach believes in his starting XI and to be very fair to Ighalo, the Covid situation did not help him, because if not for Covid, Marcus Rashford would still have been out until the end of the season,” 

"Ighalo had to cut down his wages just to be in Manchester. I think he has achieved his dream of playing for them, but now it’s for him to look elsewhere after his extended loan contract expires in the new year"... As he believes that his compatriot could have earned himself a dream permanent move to Old Trafford if given more regular game time to play. 

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer's team is set to begin their 2020/21 Premier League campaign with a home game against Crystal Palace on Saturday, with Ighalo still likely to start on the bench.
