Chelsea Forward Michy Batshuayi Has Joined Crystal Palace On A Season-Long Loan.

Chelsea forward Michy Batshuayi has completed a season-long loan move to Crystal Palace, with an option to make his move permanent at the end of the loan spell.

The South London club made the official announcement via the club's website on Thursday afternoon.

This would be a second loan spell for Batshuayi to the Selhurst Park after his successful second half performance in the 2018/19 season where he scored six goals in 13 appearances for the Eagles.

The 26-year-old Belguim international, whoose current contract with Chelsea was set to expire next summer, had recently signed a one-year contract extension with the Blues.

Following the arrival of Timo Werner to Chelsea from RB Leipzig, it means Batshuayi would drop to fourth choice in the pecking order for Frank Lampard's team behind Timo Werner, Olivier Giroud and Tammy Abraham, which paved way for his loan move to Palace until the end of the new season.

"I feel like I’m home now, so it’s good. But I need to do a good season here, to work a lot with my teammates and I want to do my best here... Said Batshuayi on his arrival to Palace.

"It’s not my first time here. I know the teammates, I know the gaffer, I know how the club works here. For me, it’s the best decision... He added

"My target is to win a lot of games because Palace is a good team and a dangerous team for big clubs," 

"I'm happy, the coach is happy, my teammates are happy. Let's get to work."

Crystal Palace manager Roy Hodgson expressed his delight of having Batshuayi back to the squad: 

"I am very happy we have secured Michy on a season long loan. He made a great impact at the club in his previous loan spell, albeit only five months long, displaying a goal scoring threat which we very much needed at that time and we are confident he will produce again.

"As a player who will help to convert our chances in to goals, Michy will be another valuable addition to the two new signings we have made this summer. It’s another boost for the players and fans alike, and I’m sure everyone will join me in saying welcome back Michy."

The Batsman joined Chelsea for £33m from french club Marseille on a five-year deal in July 2016 under Antonio Conte, and was part of the team that won the 2016/17 Priemier League trophy.

During his time at Stamford Bridge, he scored 25 goals in 77 appearances and has also had loan moves to Borussia Dortmund and Valencia.

His club record stands at 120 goals in 325 senior appearances across several top divisions in Europe.

Batshuayi netted twice on international duty for Belgium in the Nations League 5-1 victory over Iceland on Tuesday night, taking his international tally to an impressive 18 goals in 30 caps since his debut for the senior team in March 2015.
