BREAKING: Arsenal Captain Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang Has Extended His Stay With The Gunners Until June 2023.

Arsenal captain Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang has finally ended several months of speculations about his future, by signing a new three-year contract, which will keep him at the Emirates stadium until June 2023. 

The 31-year-old star was into the last year of his current deal expected to expire in the summer of 2021, but has now put smiles in the faces of the Gunners fans by commiting his future to the club, and now expected to earn somewhere in the region of £250,000 per-week as part of his new deal.

Having emerged the Bundesliga top-scorer in the 2016/17 season, Aubameyang joined the Gunners in January 2018 from Borussia Dortmund under former manager Arsene Wenger for a then-club-record fee reported to be £56 million.

He went on to win the Premier League Golden Boot in his first full season in 2018-19 season with the club, alongside fellow African brothers Mane and Salah with 22 goals each.

Last season (2019-20), he was just one goal shy of winning the Premier League Golden Boot, which was won by Jamie Vardy with 23 goals.

Aubameyang who was delighted over the extension of his new contract, told the club's official website;

"Signing for this special club was never in doubt," 

"I believe in Arsenal. We can achieve big things together. We have something exciting here and I believe the best is to come for Arsenal."

Aubameyang scored a brace in the 2-1 FA Cup final victory against Chelsea at the Wembley stadium last July, as he lifted his first trophy with the club, and becoming the first African player to win the trophy as a captain.

Winning the FA Cup, sees Mikel Arteta's side secure a place in next season's Europa League, after failing to qualify via the league standing.

The Gabon striker also scored a goal in normal time and the fifth and winning penalty in a shootout to win the Community Shield on August 29, against Liverpool after the game ended 1-1 at full-time.

Amids interest from big-name clubs such as Barcelona and Antonio Conte's Inter, He recently scored the last goal in their 3-1 Premier League opener win against Fulham last weekend, bringing his goal tally to 72 in 111 appearances for the North London club.

Arsenal's manager Mikel Arteta who looks to build his desired team around Aubameyang said;

“It was important for Pierre-Emerick to stay with us. He’s a superb player with an incredible mentality.

"Being the player to have taken the least amount of time to reach 50 goals with this club tells you everything you need to know about him and his way of working... added the Spaniard.

"He’s an important leader for the team and a big part of what we’re building. He wants to be up there with the best players in the world and leave his mark. He can achieve that here."

CloudNine Sports understands that the 2015 African Footballer of the year, has made 63 caps for the Gabon national team, scoring 25 goals since his debut on March 2009.
