Puyol And Suarez Shows Support To Lionel Messi Who Have Decided To Quit Barcelona.
Barcelona star Lionel Messi has shocked the footballing world by reportedly telling the club on Tuesday evening that he wants to leave.
According to Marca, the Argentine does not want to continue under new boss Ronald Koeman who was appionted immediately after the sack of Quique Setien following Barcelona’s humiliating 8-2 defeat to Bayern Munich in the quater-final of the Champions League.
Messi communicated to the club by buroFAX his desire to leave the club this summer after holding what seems to be a crisis talk with Ronald Koeman last Friday over his future, saying that he sees himself ‘more out than in’ the club.
The 33-year-old is ready to terminate his contract with the club which will enable him activate a clause that allows him to unilaterally leave for free 20 days before the end of each season, as he look forward for a fresh start following a turbulent season.
Messi believes the clause in his contract is still valid because the enlongated season ended in August and not May because of the coronavirus pandemic.
Though Barcelona are insisting that the time for Messi to activate the unilateral clause in his contract has completely expired on June 10.
The club's president Josep Maria Bartomeu immediately met with other board directors in an emergency meeting over Messi's request who has had an uncomfortable relationship with the current board, as Barca fans gathered outside the Camp Nou to call for the president's resignation.
Meanwhile CloudNine Sports also understands that, former club legend Carles Puyol and teammate Luiz Suarez have also supported Messi's decision to quit the Catalan club via social media.
Puyol, who was captain at the club when Messi first broke into the first-team, tweeted:
"Respect and admiration Leo. All my support, amigo."
While Luis Suarez applauded Puyols tweet.
Luis Suarez was shockingly told on Monday that he was not the plans of Ronald Koeman's team for next season, and his contract which still has a year left to run, will be terminated.
The Uruguayan whom was left furious, has formed a good strike partnership with Messi since joining Barcelona from Liverpool in 2014.

The six-time Ballon d'Or winner is now been linked with a move to join other top Eurpean club's who are closely monitoring the situation at Barcelona.
There's a possibility of a potential reunion with his former manager Pep Guardiola at Manchester City, with Manchester United, PSG, Inter Milan, Chelsea and Juventus all showing interest in the Argentine star.
