OFFICIAL; Juventus Have SACKED Manager Maurizio Sarri.

Juventus have sacked manager Maurizio Sarri after just one season in charge.

The official announcement was released on Saturday following a crisis meeting held between members of the club's hierarchy who have been unimpressed with Sarri's performance so far at the club.

Despite guiding Juventus to a ninth consecutive Scudetto, and becoming the oldest manager to win the Serie A title, Juve lost three of their last four league matches, and only manage to finish one point clear of second place Inter Milan.

They had also lost the Coppa Italia title to Napoli in June, as reported by CloudNine Sports.

Maurizio Sarri sack came following Juventus round-of-16 elimination from the Champions League by French club Lyon on Friday night.

Juventus had actually won the match 2-1 at full-time, with Cristiano Ronaldo scoring both goals on the night, after Memphis Depay had earlier opened scoring for Lyon at the empty Allianz stadium.

The result brought the tie to a 2-2 aggregate scoreline, which saw Maurizio Sarri's side crashed out of the competition based on away goal rules.

Lyon advanced to the quater-final as they had won the first-leg 1-0 in February before the competition was suspended due to coronavirus in March.

According to the Daily Mail, Juventus risk losing £27m after sacking the 61-year-old Italian, with chairman Andrea Agnelli eyeing up former Tottenham boss Mauricio Pochettino, Lazio coach Simone Inzaghi, current Real Madrid manager and former Juve player Zinedine Zidane, or former manager Massimiliano Allegri as a possible replacement next season.

The club thanked Sarri for having written a new page in Juventus' history through a statement released at the club's website,  adding that it was "the culmination of a personal journey that led him to climb all the divisions of Italian football"

The former Napoli and Chelsea manager, was appointed Juventus manager on a three-year contract last summer after spending just one year in England, where he finished third in the Premier League, and won the Europa League in his one season at Chelsea.

Sarri won 38 games, Draw 8 and lost 9 matches, with his side scoring 100 goals and conceeding 55 goals.
