OFFICIAL: Chelsea Have Completed The Signing Of Ben Chilwell From Leicester City.

Chelsea have on Wednesday completed the signing of left-back Ben Chilwell from Leicester City for a reported fee of £50m ($65million).

 

The England international, will earn up to £190,000 per-week with the Blues atter signing a five-year contract, which will keep at a Stamford Bridge until June 2025.

This has become Chelsea latest and third successful signing of the summer under manager Frank Lampard following the earlier arrival of winger Hakim Ziyech from Ajax and striker Timo Werner from RB Leipzig.

The former Derby County manager has reportedly spent around £136m in recruiting new players to Chelsea, as the club is still working on a deal to sign Kai Havertz, Malang Sarr, Thiago Silva and s new goalkeeper in the coming days.

On completing the move to Chelsea, Been Chilwell told the club's website;

"I am delighted to be joining Chelsea at this very exciting time for the club. 

"I’m looking forward to being a part of this young, dynamic squad led by Frank Lampard as we challenge for honours next season. 

"I can’t wait to get started and hopefully it won’t be long before we’re playing in front of the Chelsea fans at Stamford Bridge."

Chilwell is one of the most established and promising full-backs in the Premier League having made over 120 appearances for Leicester City, a club where he began his professional career, since his debut as an 18-year-old back in October 2015

The 23-year-old had missed the last few fixtures for Leicester City in the just concluded Premier League season due to a heel injury, but Chelsea are believed to examine the injury, which will heal soon.

He scored three goals and assisted four others 33 appearances across all competitions for the Foxes last season, helping Brenda Rodgers team make a return to European competition next season.

Though Chilwell will now be playing Champions League football with Chelsea who finished fourth in the league standings, rather than the Europa League with Leicester who finished fifth.  

Chelsea director Marina Granovskaia speaking on the successful transfer added: 

"We are very pleased to have completed our third addition to our exciting squad for the coming season. 

"Ben brings plenty of top-level experience playing in the Premier League, Champions League and at international level, despite his young age.

"We are confident Ben will adapt very quickly to being a Chelsea player and with the fixture programme for 2020/21 especially busy, he is a fantastic addition to the squad needed to challenge for honours."

Chelsea will kick-off the new 2020/21 season with a Premier League fixture away to Brighton on Monday, September 14.
