Jamie Vardy Has Agreed To A One-Year Contract Extension With Leicester City

Leicester City star Jamie Vardy has agreed to a new contract extension with the club which will keep him at the King Power stadium until June 2023.

The 33-year-old England international, produced one of his best performance in the just concluded 2019/20 season by becoming the club's fourth all-time leading scorer with 129 goals in 309 appearances, and also scoring 23 goals to become the oldest player to win the Premier League Golden Boot award.

He helped the team to a fifth place finish in the league standings, and a return to European competition next season, having missed out finishing ninth the previous season.

In addition, Vardy holds the record for consecutive games scored in the Premier League, striking in 11 successive fixtures in 2015.

His latest achievement came in July, when he became the 29th player to score a 100th Premier League goals against Crystal Palace since the league began in 1992.

Speaking via the Leicester City's website Vardy said: 

“The journey that I’ve been on with this Football Club is hard to describe, and although we’ve accomplished so much together already.

"I know that I’ve got so much more to achieve with this team, so it’s a special feeling to be able to commit my future to Leicester City once again.

“I love playing my football in front of our fans at King Power Stadium and I’m delighted to continue this journey at such an exciting time for the Club. 

"We’ve a fantastic team that I believe is capable of getting even better and I can’t wait to see what we can achieve together in the next few years.”

Vardy who joined the Foxes in the championship from Fleetwood Town in 2012 for a non-league record transfer fee of £1million, has established himself as one of the leading strikers in English football.

CloudNine Sports understands that he was a key figure in the Club’s promotion to the Premier League in 2013/14, and was part of Claudio Ranieri's squad that made history during Leicester’s 2015/16 title-winning season.

Vardy currently has 26 caps for his country, scoring on seven occasions. He represented the Three Lions at UEFA Euro 2016 and the 2018 FIFA World Cup respectively.
