Ciro Immobile Officially Wins The 2019-20 Serie A Golden Boot/The European Golden Boot.

Lazio striker Ciro Immobile won the Serie A Golden Boot and European Golden Boot award for the 2019-20 season .

The 30-year-old Italian had officially won the awards after Cristiano Ronaldo was left out of the Juventus matchday squad that lost at home to Roma 3-1, but nevertheless, the Bianconeri's were crowned champions of the league for the 38th time.

Immobile ties the Serie A goal-scoring record in one season held by Gonzalo Higuain (36) in the 2015/2016 season, after scoring in Lazio's 3-1 final Serie A game defeat away to Napoli.

The Lazio striker won the European Golden Boot award for for first time in his career, an award that was won for the third consecutive time by Barcelona forward Lionel Messi after his 36 goals in the 2019/20 campaign.

He finished two goals clear of Bayern Munich's Robert Lewandowski after he overtaked the Polish striker two-days ago as reported by CloudNine Sports, and five goals clear of Ronaldo in third.

He also wins the Italian top-scorer award for the third time in his career ( 2013/14, 2017/18 and 2019/20), ahead of Cristiano Ronaldo who was Serie A's second top scorer with 31 goals, and

Inter Milan's Romelu Lukaku on 23.

Immobile's successes in front of goal mean that the European Golden Boot has returned to Italy, for the first time since Francesco Totti won it in 2006-2007, and has since then be won by a La Liga player.

Ciro Immobile expressed his delight thanking his family, teammates, coach and the fans via his verified Instagram page saying;

"I have loved this sport since I was a child and it was precisely the love and passion for football that led me to dare and always believe strongly every time more in my dreams. 

"Pushing the so-called stick higher and higher has not been easy. 

"Another much more difficult year has passed but not for us but for all the people who fought for us and for our children and in difficult times thanks to their work they made us look forward with confidence.

"Thanks for all the messages I have received by my national teammates and all the fans who love this sport."

Ho amato questo sport fin da bambino ed è stato proprio l’amore e la passione per il calcio che mi hanno portato ad osare e credere sempre fortemente ogni volta di più nei miei sogni.
