Arsenal Are Set To Complete The Signing Of Lille Defender Gabriel Magalhães In The Coming Days.
Arsenal are set to complete the signing of Lille defender Gabriel Magalhães in the coming days.
The 22-year-old Brazilian international was at London Colney earlier today for his medicals, and also in process to finalize a deal with the North London side which could be worth up to £27million.
According to a renowned Italian Sports journalist Fabrizio Romano, Magalhaes who is with his agent, will now put pen to paper on a long-term contract with the Gunners, which will keep him at the Emirates stadium until June 2025.
Meanwhile, Magalhaes despite having been granted special permission to complete his medicals, will have to undergo a 14-day self-isolation period after arriving from France just in accordance with the British government mandatory quarantine policy to curtail the spread of the coronavirus.
He will not be able to link-up with his new teammates for two weeks, and will miss the Community Shield game against Liverpool at the Wembley stadium on Saturday, August 29.
This will be the second new signing for Mikel Arteta as Arsenal manager just after the signing of Willian from Chelsea weeks ago, as he looks to strengthen his squad ahead of the 2020/21season which begins with a Premier League fixture against newly promoted side Fulham at the Craven Cottage on September 12.
Arsenal saw off competitions from Everton, Manchester United and Napoli for Magalhaes, who is expected to form a good partnership with William Saliba in the defence for Arsenal next season.
