OFFICIAL: Man City Will Play Champions League Football Next Season, After Their Two-Seasons Ban Was Overtuned.

Manchester City football club have won the appeal for their two-year UEFA ban from European competitions due to breaking Financial Fair Play violations. 

This means that Pep Guardiola side are now free to play in the Champions League next season, after their ban was overturned by the Court of Arbitration for Sport on Monday morning.

City were initially punished by UEFA in February, when they were banned from competing in the Champions League or Europa League for two years and given a €30m fine for seeious breaches in the Financial Fair Play rules.

If the ban hadn't been lifted, the team who finish fifth in the Premier League which is currently Manchester United, would have take their place in the Champions League next season, with Europa League qualification extended to sixth and seventh.

Manchester City will still have to pay a fine, which has been reduced from €30 million to €10 million.

"That is the challenge that is the minimum requirement for this club. And these players have done it for the last six or seven years... Said Pep Guardiola

"We deserve to be there because we won it on the pitch. Hopefully on Monday UEFA can allow us to play like this team and these players deserve to."

Man City are still in this season competition for the Champions League, and are set to play a return-leg match against Real Madrid in the last 16 at the Etihad staduim next month, having defeated the Spanish side at the Bernabeu 2-1 in the first-leg before the competition was suspended in March due to the coranavirus pandemic.

They have also be drawn to face either Juventus or Lyon in the quarter-final should they defeat Real Madrid.
