Juventus Defeats Sampdoria To Emerge Champions Of The Serie A For The Ninth Season In A Row.

Juventus have emerged champions of the Serie A for the ninth consecutive season with two games to spare, following a 2-0 victory over Sampdoria on Sunday night.

Cristiano Ronaldo opened the scoring with his 31st goals of the season just before the end of first half at the Allianz stadium, then Federico Bernardeschi secured the victory  by scoring his first Serie A goal of the season in the 67th minute.

Sampdoria were further reduced to 10 men as Morten Thorsby was sent to off following for a foul on Pjanic in the 77th minute.

Ronaldo also missed a chance to score a brave fro himself after missing a penalty which struck the crossbar in the 89th minute of the game but

Maurizio Sarri's side were still able to secure the much needed three points as they bouced back from a disappointing Thursday night defeat awat to Udinese.

Though the Bianconeri won't reach 90 points as they have in previous seasons, but are now confirmed champions of Italy for a record 36th time.

Juventus who had a one-point lead over Lazio before the three-months coronavirus lockdown break, are now seven pionts clear from second place Inter Milan.

The 61-year-old manager Maurizio Sarri after becoming the oldest manager to win Serie A: 

"I, like all children, used to dream about winning the Scudetto.

"I didn't win it as a grown up, yet I did as an old man.

"Winning is hard and every year it gets more complicated... The former Chelsea boss who replaced Massimiliano Allegri last summer added.

"Taking something for granted in sport is one of the biggest mistakes you can make and for this group it was certainly not a walk in the park".

Cristiano Ronaldo, In his second year at the club dedicated the victory to all Juventus fans and to those who have suffered due to the COVID_19 pandemic, he wrote on Instagram; 

"There we go! Champions of Italy

"I am so happy for the second successive title and to continue help building the history of this great and wonderful club.

"It wasn't easy the fans courage and determination were the steenght the team needed to win this title that belongs to all of Italy.

"A big hug you you all!

Juventus would be without both right-back Danilo and forward Paulo Dybala who suffered injuries during the game last night, as they are still in competition for the Champions League this seaaon.

They look to overturn a 1-0 round-of-16 first-leg deficit when they host French side Lyon on August 7. A win would see then advance to the last eight in Lisbon to face either Manchester City or Real Madrid.
