GOOD NEWS As The 2020/2021 French Ligue 1 Season Will Begin In August.
The French Professional Football League (LFP) have officially announced that the 2020-21 Ligue 1 season will start on the weekend of August 22-23.
The commencement of the first gameweek of Ligue 1 calendar fixtures will begin on the weekend of August 22-23, with the season set to conclude on 23rd May 2021.
Amiens and Toulouse's were relegated through the votes of the LFP, while Lorient and Lens were promoted from Ligue 2 in their place.
PSG will begin their Ligue1 title defence at home to Metz, while the other opening day games will see Lyon play away to Montpellier, Marseille will face Saint Étienne at home, Monaco are at home to Stade de Reims, Bordeaux and Lille hosting Nantes and Rennes respectively etc.
Newly promoted Lorient host Strasbourg on the opening weekend, while Lens are on the road at Nice.
The first big match of the season will be on gameweek 3, when PSG will welcome last season second place finalist Olympique Marseille to the Parc des Princes on 13th September.
CloudNine Sports had reported on 30th April that, the French Ligue 1 became one of the five big leagues in Europe to end the 2019-20 campaign prematurely due to the global coronavirus pandemic.
Paris Saint-Germain were declared champions for the third-time in a row and won their 9th league titles in history following the cancellation.
The Parisian side still have a chance to win a domestic treble, as the Coupe de France and the Coupe de la Ligue for the 2019-20 season are still yet to be concluded, not forgetting that they are still contenders for the Champions League title having knocked out Borussia Dortmund 3-2 in the round of 16 in March.
PSG is set to face Saint-Etiene in the Coupe de France final on Friday 24 July at the at the Stade de France in Saint-Denis, while they would also battle Lyon for the Coupe de la Ligue title in the finals on Friday 31 July.
