Mario Balotelli Has Been Sacked By Boyhood Club Brescia For Failing To Attend Training Sessions
Mario Balotelli has been sacked by his hometown club Brescia for refusing to return to training amid the coronavirus pandemic.
Reports in Italy states that Brescia owner Massimo Cellino sent Balotelli a letter requesting the termination of his three-year contract at the club.
The 29-year-old striker failed to return to training since after the coronavirus lockdown was eased, claiming that he missed the trainings due to stomach problems.
According to La Gazzetta, no legal action would be necessary as the termination was negotiated with the 29-year-old’s lawyers.
Balotelli currently earns £877,000-a-year and his contract with the Serie A side runs until 2022 since joining club on a free transfer from Marseille last August.
The 'SuperMario' rose to limelight as a teenager (19-year-old) under manager Jose Mourinho at Inter Milan and has since then seen his footballing form fluctuate.
He has played for some major clubs across Europe, which includes the likes of Manchester City, Liverpool, AC Milan, Nice and Marsielle.
His stay at his boyhood club Brescia hasn't really been a success, as has only scores five goals in 19 games this season.
With 12 more matches to go to conclude the 2019/20 Serie A season, Brescia currently face relegation as they sit bottom of the league table with 16 points.
