Unified Heavyweight Champion Anthony Joshua Faces A Fresh Challenge For WBO Belt
British/Nigerian boxer Anthony Joshua has been called out by a fresh opponent amid the ongoing break from professional boxing due to the global health crisis caused by Coronavirus.
CloudNine Sports understands that, the two-time unified heavyweight champion,Joshua '30' was set to defend his tiltes against the mandatory challenger Kubrat Pulev '38' on 20th June at the Tottenham Hotspur staduim, but he has already been forced to delay his preparations due to the COVID_19 outbreak, which has also jeopardized all hopes of a mouthwatering bout against fellow compatriot Tyson Fury later this year should he defeat Pulev.
"Frank is in good position to fight for the WBO championship, in the event that occurs... Manager Mike Barao told Sky Sports.
“Just a guess but I think (Oleksandr) Usyk ends up winning a vacated WBO heavyweight title within the next 12 months.
"I believe Frank Sanchez versus WBO No 6 Junior Fa or No 7 Michael Hunter would make sense.
"Once the boxing world gets back on track, we will try and face one of those younger, top 10 type guys in order to solidify a world title opportunity."
The amateur, Frank Sanchez whoose previous fights have all been 10-round title contests, has won five Cuban national titles and participated in the competitive World Series Boxing.
Undefeated Cuban boxer Frank Sanchez is said to seek an opportunity for an eliminator fight to challenge and take Joshua’s WBO belt.
Sanchez '27', has earlier defeated American boxer Joey Dawejko on points to cruise to his 15th victory last month, which sees him move into the top ten of the WBO rankings.
