Manchester United captain, Harry Maguire has suggested, that all his teammates to donate 30% of their wages to charity.
Premier League clubs have faced recently crticisms for not showing any sign of support in the fight aganist the Covid_19 crisis, which ddn't go down well with some players, who behind the scenes, have been making donations but want their money to go to charity and the NHS and not back to wealthy Premier League teams.
Maguire came up with the idea after a brief meeting with the club's executive vice-chairman Ed Woodward about the players making a charitable donation in order to help hospitals and medical centres in Manchester.
Manchester United is currently one of the top teams in the world that pays highest when it comes to players' wages, as they pay a reported huge chunk of £332million every year.
That figure has grown by more than 43 per cent, £100m in the past three years and the Red Devils have now given back to the society.
Spanish goalkeeper David De Gea, who joined the Red devils in 2011 under former manager Sir Alex Ferguson, is the club's highest paid player, pocketing the sum of £375,000 each week after signing a new four-year contract last September, which will keep him at the club until at least June 2023.
While French international, Paul Pogba is also received a huge sum of £290,000 a week, amids several transfer speculations surrounding his future at Old Trafford.
The Uinted duo going forward, Marcus Rashford and Anthony Martial earn more than £200,000 a week each.
