Bayern Munich Player Resumes Physical Training Amids Coronavirus Scare.
Bundesliga leaders Bayern Munich resumed training Monday without any single fans in sight, as they maintained social distancing measures, which is in line with the German government guidelines.
Football activities have been suspended in Germany since March 13, and was rescheduled to resume on April 2, but following a meeting among the bundesliga clubs, the suspension was extended to April 30 at the earliest.
The bundesliga gaint have been having cyber training in two weeks with club legend Argen Robben joining in with one session.
Bayern Munich along with other Bundesliga clubs were officially given the go ahead from the state authorities, as they resumed physical training at the Sabener Strasse by splitting the players in small groups, and all hygiene measures were strictly observed to contain the risk of the virus.
The move is in line with Deutsche Fussball Liga's (DFL) recommendation allowing clubs to train at least until after Sunday, April 5.
According to reports, Germany has seen the number of infected people rise above 100,000 this weekend and nearly 1,600 have died after testing positive for the virus that has forced the country into lockdown.
A statement released on the clubs website reads;
"In order to further slow the spread of the coronavirus, FC Bayern asks fans to continue to follow the instructions of the authorities and therefore please do not come to the FC Bayern training ground,"
"After a warm-up routine, running and shooting drills formed the main part of the session as well as technical training – all elements in which the necessary social distancing can be adhered to."
Club goalkeeper and captain Manuel Neuer said;
"It was certainly a very unusual feeling holding a training session in small groups today, but it was also nice to see the boys in person again,"
"I'd like to thank the club and all the helpers who have made it possible for us to complete football-specific training on the pitch again during these difficult times," he added.
