Zlatan Ibrahimovic Commences A GoFundMe Campaign, To Assist Medical Professionals In Italy In Combatting The Coronavirus.
AC Milan forward, Zlatan Ibrahimovic has stared a fundraising campaign titled 'Kick the Virus Away", in order to help fight the Coronavirus outbreak in Italy, calling on fellow footballers to donate.
The Kick the Virus Away campaign, is to raise money to assist medical professionals in battling the virus, which outbreak is hitting the country particularly hard.
According to reports, Italy has over 31,000 confirmed cases of the coronavirus, with over 2,500 dying from the disease. Football players like Daniele Rugani, Manolo Gabiadini, Blaise Matuidi and a host of others have also been diagnosed with the virus.
The Swedish international, Ibrahimovic has set a target of 1 million euros, and he has made two donations of 50,000 euros.
"Italy has always given me so much, and in this dramatic moment, I want to give back even more to this country that I love," Ibrahimovic said on his official Instagram handle.
"I decided, together with the people who are working with me, to create a fundraiser for Humanitas hospitals and to use my communication power to spread the message wider. It’s a serious issue and we need concrete help that’s not just about a video.
"I count on the generosity of my colleagues, of all professional athletes and of those who want to make a small or large donation according to their possibilities, to kick this virus away.
"Together we can really help hospitals and doctors and nurses who selflessly work every day to save our lives. Because today we are the ones cheering for them!
The unchanging 38-year-old Zlatan, concluded his appeal by saying; "Lets together kick the coronavirus away and win this match!"... And remember, if the virus don't come to Zlatan, Zlatan goes to the virus."
Zlatan Ibrahimovic has spent huge of his footballing career in Italy, he is currently on his second spell with AC Milan, having also played for Juventus and Inter Milan, with over 540 career goals to his credit and winning 31 trophies.
