MAN CITY Vs ARSENAL, Becomes The First Premier League Game To Be Postponed Due To Coronavirus Precaution.

Arsenal have officially announced that the Premier League game against Manchester City have been postponed after it emerged that some of the clubs personnels had come in to contact with Olympiacos owner Evangelos Marinakis who has tested positive to Coronavirus.

Arsenal had hosted Olympiacos 13 days ago  in the Europa League round of 32 return leg fixture at the Emirates staduim, in which they crashed out of the competition following the away goals rule.

The Premier league game between Man City and Arsenal which was meant to have been played earlier on 1st March, was postponed due to the league cup final between Aston Villa and Manchester City held on the same day, but was later rescheduled to hold today Wednesday 11th March.


According to a statement released by Arsenal via the clubs website;

"We at Arsenal, have been taking medical advice and tracing any individuals who had what the guidelines define as close contact with him.

"With the outcome of this exercise, we identified that a number of players met the Olympiacos owner immediately following the game."

"The medical advice we have received puts the risk of them developing Covid-19 at extremely low. However, we are strictly following the Government guidelines which recommend that anyone coming into close contact with someone with the virus should self-isolate at home for 14 days from the last time they had contact.

"As a result, the players are unavailable for tonight's match against Manchester City and the Premier League has decided the game should be postponed."

The players and staff who had come in contact with the Olympiacos owner, will now remain at their homes until the 14-day period expires.

Tickets which have been sold to the Arsenal travelling fans will still remain valid for the match when it's rearranged.

Arsenal will now look forward for the return of thier players and staff on Friday in preparation for the Premier league visit to Brighton on Saturday at the Falmer stadium
