Jose Mourinho Reacts To Eric Dier's Confrontation With Supporters Following Tottenham's Elimination From The FA Cup.

Tottenham Hotspur crashed out of the 2019/20 FA Cup fifth round, following a devastating defeat at home to Norwich on Wednesday night.

Jose Mourinho Spurs team, drew the first blood earlier in the first half of the game, after defender Jan Vertonghen headed home a powerfully taken free-kick by Giovani Lo Celso in the 13th minutes.

Spurs failed severally to double the advantage, as the visitors upped the tempo after the break as Josip Drmic got the equalizer for Norwich, after bundling the ball into the net in the 78 minutes.

The match went into 30 minutes of extra-time, but a winner could not emerge after 120 minutes of football, the game moved on to the penalty shoot-out, as Erik Lamela, Troy Parrott and Gedson Fernandes all missed 3 kicks out of 5 kicks, while Norwich converted 3 kicks out of thier 4 kicks, giving  Daniel Farke's men a (2-3) victory after the shhot-out.

An unbelievable scenes occured after the game, as  Eric Dier '26' who played as a centre-back for Spurs allergedly climbed the stands, to react to some racist abuse by his own fans aimed towards his brother.

The former Chelsea and Man United boss Jose Mourinho in an interview, reacted to Eric Dier’s confrontation with a fan: 

'That is not the story of this game. But I will not run away from it. Some of Eric's family (his brother) was being insulted. So he went to the fans. It was not professional but I understand it.”
"This person insulted Eric Dier and Eric's brother wasn’t happy with the situation and Eric wasn’t happy. He did what we professionals cannot do, but did something we would do."

The Portuguese also praised his players for giving their all following elimination from the FA Cup...

"The boys gave what they have and what they don’t have,” The squad right now looks a bit exhausted"... he said.

He concluded by saying that, he will request Tottenham Hotspur’s board to decide whether he should focus on the Premier League game away at Burnley or the Champions League Last-Sixteen second leg tie against RB Leipzig as his Spurs squad can’t compete in both.


The defeat means that Jose Mourinho and Spurs have failed to win each of their last four games in all competitions, which are;
Tottenham 0-1 Leipzig (Champions League)
Chelsea 2-1 Tottenham (Premier League)
Tottenham 2-3 Wolves (Premier League)
Tottenham 1-1 Norwich (FA Cup).

Mourinho has also lost on all seven occasions he has led an English team in a penalty shootout.
