The former Everton and Manchester United midfielder, becomes the first player in the Chinese Super League (CSL) to have contracted the COVID_19, on his arrival to the club on Saturday for the preparation of the new season which was initially postponed and set to begin early next month, has now been postponed more further.
According to reports, the COVID_19 virus which emerged from the central Chinese city of Wuhan in December last year, has since spread across the world and become a pandemic, has infected more than 300,000 people, and almost 13,000 deaths have been recorded.
Remember that Fellaini joined United from Everton in the 2013 deadline day summer transfer window, to reunite with his former manager David Moyes at Old Trafford, before leaving for the Chinese club Shandong Luneng in January 2019, thereby ending his five and a half year stay with the red devils.
The 32-year-old Belgian, has released a statement via his social media handle saying;
Shandong Luneng said in a statement that Fellaini had a normal temperature and was feeling fine, but "is under observation and having treatment at a designated medical facility".
"The club will do its best... to help in the treatment and recovery of the player."
He played 117 times for United during a six-year spell at Old Trafford.
