Brazil Football Legend Ronaldinho Has Been Detained In Paraguay For Allergedly Having Forged Passport.
Brazil football legend Ronaldinho Gaucho and his brother Roberto are currently been detained by the police in Paraguay for allegedly using forged documentation to enter the South American country.
The 39-year-old arrived in Paraguay on Wednesday, 4th March for the promotion of a book / charity event for children, but was intercepted by officials in his hotel room.
Police searched the hotel Yacht and Golf Club in the capital, Asuncion, where the star had been staying with his brother, and in the process reportedly found their passports which bore their respective names but with Paraguaiyan nationality.
The brothers are set to stay at the hotel room for now for proper investigation, as authorities prepare to issue a statement on Thursday, when the two time world footballer of the year would be heard at the prosecutors office. Then it would be known if they would be under areest or not.
Meanwhile the interior minister of Paraguay Euclides Acevedo has brought calmness to the alarmed public telling ESPN Brazil that the pair had not been arrested but are under investigation.
"I respect his sporting popularity but the law must also be respected. No matter who you are, the law still applies".
"We are also investigating the responsibility of the authorities who allowed them to enter the country with falsified documents,” He said.
The 2005 Balon D'or winner, enjoyed the prime of his career at top European clubs like, Barcelona in Spain, French club Paris-Saint-German and Italian club side AC Milan before his retirement. He also won the 2002 Korea/Japan World Cup for Brazil.
