2021 AFCON Qualifiers: NFF Picks Venue and Date for Nigeria vs Sierra Leone.

The Nigeria Football Federation (NFF), have annouced that the Super Eagles will host Sierra Leone at the Stephen Keshi Staduim in Asaba Delta state when the 2021 African Cup of Nations (AFCON) qualifiers resumes in March.

The NFF also announced the date for the first-leg match against the Leone Stars which is set for March 27th and expects the Sierra Leone Football Association to fix the return leg on Tuesday, March 31st.

The Super Eagles have played several games including Friendlies at the 15,000+ capacity Staduim and haven't lost any at the ground.

The match against the Leone stars will be the second time and AFCON qualifying match would be played there. The first was the 2019 AFCON qualifying match against the Pirates of Seychelles and the Super Eagles won 3-1.

The NFF General Secretary, Dr. Mohammed Sanusi in a statement said at the weekend;

“We have finally settled for the Stephen Keshi Stadium, Asaba for the 2021 Cameroon AFCON  qualifying match against Sierra Leone. The match will be played on Friday, 27th March 2020.” 

The three time African Champions, are in (Group L) alongside Sierra Leone, Benin Republic and Lesotho, having won the Squirrels of Benin 2-1 in Uyo and also got a 4-2 away victory over the Crocodiles of Lesotho last November. They are now set to play their 3rd group game against the Leone stars at a Staduim named after former boss Stephen Keshi.

Nigeria currently sits first in the group with 6 pionts after two games, Benin in second with 3 points, Lesotho and Sierra Leone in third and fourth place respectively with 1 points each.
