Super Eagles New Assistant Coach "Joseph Yobo" Releases First Statement On His Job.

CloudNine Sports had earlier reported that the former Everton, Fenerbahçe and Norwich City defender was appointed as the assistant on Wednesday by NFF to work with Head Coach Gernot Rohr, alongside other technical crews after relieving the former assistant Imama Amapakabo of his duties with the team.


The 39-year-old Yobo Speaking in an interview on Thursday morning releases his first statement saying;

“I’m super excited to be appointed as the assistant coach of the super Eagles and I am thankful to God about that.

“I’m passionate about the super Eagles and this new chapter of my life and the new challenge ahead and I can’t wait to get started.” He said.

Joseph Michael Yobo was born September 6, 1980 in Rivers State Nigeria. He then started out his footballing career in 1996 with Michellin-Harcourt in Rivers State, before leaving to join Belguim Club side Standard Liege in 1997.
He was later sold to Olympique Marseille who loaned him out to Tenerife in Spain before he joined Everton on a permanent deal worth around £5 million in 2003 under manager David Moyes, where he spent close to 7 years at the Goodison park before moving to Fenerbahçe on loan in 2010. He returned to England to join Norwich City in 2014 before his retirement.

The attack minded defender Yobo scored a total number of 15 goals in 434 appearances for club sides across four countries in Europe (Belgium, France, England and Turkey).

Yobo since his retirement in 2014, has worked as an NFF ambassador and TV pundit with SuperSports.
