Sofia Kenin Crowned Champion Of The 2020 Australian Open.

Sofia Kenin on Saturday, defeats Garbine Muguruza with a comeback 4-6, 6-2, 6-2 victory in the Australian Open Final to win her first ever major Grand Slam title...

The American victory over the 26-year-old Spanish-Venezuelan Muguruza, makes her beecomes the youngest Australian Open women's champion in twelve years  since 20-year-old Maria Sharapova in 2008

At 21-years and 80-days of age, Sofia Kenin is the youngest American to make her Top 10 debut by making it to the Australian Open Final, and also winning the tiltle since Serena Williams on April 5, 1999.

Kenin is just 22 days younger than the Japanese Naomi Osaka when she won the same title last year.

14th seed Kenin who knocked out fellow citizens Coco Guaff as the youngest player at the tournament, did not face any seeded opposition at this tournament until the semifinals, when she saved four set points to defeat top-seeded Ashleigh Barty, 7-6 (6), 7-5, deflating the hopes of Australians who had banked on Barty’s becoming the country’s first homegrown singles champion since 1978.

Sofia Kenin will now move up to No.7 in the world ranking on Monday, as she leaves Melbourne as the No.1 American.
