Nigeria Appionts Golden State Warriors Associate Coach "Mike Brown", As Head Coach of D'Tigers.

The Nigeria Basketball Federation (NBBF) on Tuesday announced the appiontment of Mike
Brown as head coach of the Nigerian men's senior basketball team (D'Tigers), ahead of the 2020 Olympics in Tokyo.

The 49-year-old American basketball coach, has agreed to the terms after a press briefing with the NBBF, led by the president Engr. Musa Kida about being the next Man in charge of the D'Tigers.

Mike Brown has been the associate head coach for Golden State Warriors for close 4 years, and will now lead the D'Tigers, alongide former Cape Verde and Nigeria national team basketball coach "Alex Nwora" who will now be his assistant, for the upcoming 2020 Olympics which begins Friday 24th July to Sunday 9th August in Tokyo.

The former Los Angeles Lakers and Cleveland Cavaliers head coach says after his appointment;

“I am honoured and humbled that Musa Kida and the Nigerian Basketball Federation have given me this opportunity.”

"I promise to make all Nigerians Proud".

Former Captain of the Nigeria’s basketball national team D’Tigers Olumide Oyedeji speaking to news men has praised the appointment of experienced coach Mike Brown for Nigeria’s Men national basketball team;

That’s a good one, I think he’s going to improve our technicalities and I believe he is going to come with his own technical crew that’s going to help him because basketball right now has gone a lot highly technical. You cannot doubt his coaching experience, he has been a champion, winning the NBA coach of the year award in 2007. Kudos to his assistant too Alex Nwora. But the appiontment, should have been made before now and not just few months to the Olympics which will be the immediate task for the coach".
