Mikel Obi Reacts Dejectedly After Being Racially Abused In The Turkish Super Lig.
Former Super Eagles of Nigeria captain, John Obi Mikel reportedly received thousands of abusive and insulting messages after the Turkish Super Lig game between his club Trabzonspor at home to Fenerbahçe last Saturday.
32-year-old Mikel was held back by teammates from punching Emre Belozoglu of Feberbahçe after the game, for racially insulting him. It was said that Emre called Mikel "Nigger"
The match ended 2-1 in favour of the home team Trabzonspor, who performed a dramatic comeback with a 15 and 32 minutes goals to cancel Fenerbahçe first minute goal.
Trabzonspor now sits third place in the league table and a point about rival Fenerbahçe who are in fifth.
According to several sources from the Turkish League, This not the first time that the 39-year-old Emre will be accused of saying such to black players as he once did same to former Ivory Coast international Didier Zokora and without an apology attempted to shake the hands of Zokora in the reverse tie which the Ivorian declined.
Speaking to the Turkish TV during an interview, Mikel couldn't hold back his tears saying;
Mikel's club Trabzonspor have last Monday, publicly condemed the racial abuse aimed at the former Chelsea and Middlesbrough Midfielder via their official Twitter handle;
CloudNine Sports understands that Mikel has already filed a complaint with the Turkish Football Federation for necessary action to be taken against individuals who allergedly racially abused him, with his club standing strongly behind him.

"A lot has been said about this issue of racism but since I've been here, my team and colleagues at Trabzonspor have been very nice to me, there's not been any issue."

"There is no place for this, it should not be happening, and I think these people should be held responsible for their actions. They shouldn't be allowed to come to games
"It's a very disturbing time for me, I am very sad."
"Racism is a shelter for helpless and ignorant. We condemn the racist attacks against our player Obi Mikel after the match against Fenerbahçe and we bring to the public attention that a criminal complaint has been filed against the assailants".
