Kenyan Athletes, David Barmasia Tumo and Sharon Cherop Emerges Winners of the 2020 Lagos City Mararthon.
The Fifth edition of the Access Bank Lagos City Marathon have been won by David Barmasia Tumo.
The 31-year-old Kenyan athlete on Saturday, reached the finished line of the 42-kilometers race in a course of 2hours, 10 minutes and 20 seconds.
Daivid Tumo specailises in Marathon running and his personal best of 2hours, 7minutes and 18seconds set winning the 2011 Dubai Marathon and also cane fifth at the 2011 World. championships.

David is set to bag the sum of $50,000 after he emerged the winner and creating a new record at the 2020 Lagos City Marathon, he will also get an additional $20,000 for surpassing last year winner Sintayehu Legese of Ethiopia who finished with a time of 2hours, 17minutes and 28seconds.
Also in the female category, Kenya's Sharon Jemutai Cherop emerged the fastest female athlete to cross the finish line in a time of 2 hours, 31 minutes, 38 seconds.
Cherop Jemutai said after the race that she was determined to defeat previous Ethopians who have won the competition,
“This is my first time here (in Nigeria). In the last 500m, I shouted, maybe the Ethiopian even heard me; I said number two is not my portion.”
Both male and female 42km runners got the grand prize of $50,000 while the second and third place winners $40,000 and $30,000 respectively.
